R.I.P. New Luck Toy. Yet another West Seattle institution gone. I hadnīt visted you for a long time (letīs face it, you were a dump), however, you will be missed. Most memories of the Toy were ending up there sometime after midnight and pounding a few extra strong Jack & Cokes. Where will all the West Seattle kids go to end their 21 runs?

I miss this place a lot. It left aroudn the time my dad passed away, so it was a double hit. The egg rolls were of another world; I would call them something else, totally original and larger than normal, chow mein style. And it was the only place in the Junction that had exotic drinks (Zombie, Mai Tai, full bar) and Chinese food (the best bars are in Chinese retaurants, if they have 'em). Oh yes, it was a dive, but very atmospheric.

    icky food, icky crowd
Now, don't get me wrong... I love a good dive bar, which is exactly what "the Toy" used to be. Great karaoke, interesting bartenders, colorful crowd. What the hell happened? The last 2 times I've gone, the bartender looked sketched out, served me one of the worst tasting drinks I've ever had, (c'mon... how hard can a vodka/cranberry be?) the karaoke host was terrible... and don't get me started on the food! I miss the way the Toy used to be...

    Late night food... free entertainment
We went here late and nowhere else was serving (well we didn't know any better). The food was pretty standard chinese. It was good, service was friendly, and the karaoke from the bar made the night extra special.
