Disapointed!
The atmosphere was nice, but the food was awful. The soup was too salty to eat, the chicken was ok, but the salad was soggy, the vegetables tasted like they had been in the freezer too long. My brother had mashed potatoes and until he found a lump thought that they were fake. My baked potatoe tasted old. I expected better food for the price they were charging. I will never go here again.

not so good
I've been there on a few occasions. I love the style of the restaraunt, though it's a little crowded. The service not to bad, be ready to sit back and relax. As for the food, first of all it was very salty, the vegetables and steak over cooked, the biscuits under cooked while the butter was frozen. The salad was warm and the rest of the food cold. As I said I have been there more than once and I don't believe I will go back.....

Relaxing environment and tasty meals
I bring family and friends often for dinner. The new chef, Chris, has added some wonderful new items to the traditional menu. This restaurant is under new ownership and is now open every night. Week nights are best if you want to enjoy a long, leisurely meal. The wait staff is always courteous and does its best to accommodate all of the patrons. I had a party for 35 people and everyone vowed to return for more of the delicious food. The restaurant attracts a steady stream of customers despite lack of advertising.

I loved this place and can't wait to go back! We had the family style chicken which was excellent and so was the apple pie, if you can save room! This place is traditional, kind of like going to Grandma's house(if your Grandma is a super good cook). If you are in a hurry, impatient, or expect modern conviences, like a website or regular hours, then try somewhere else. It is best savoured with a group of people who have the time and desire to sit back, relax, and have a leisurely home-style meal with people they enjoy conversing with.

A great homestyle dinner!
I loved this place, went with a group of 3 couples. We all had the chicken dinner which is served "family style". It comes with all you can eat chicken and all the fixings. It was great, dessert was great too. You can't beat the price ($14) for a quality meal in a great location. Call first... I hear they are closed sometimes.

In Short.... CRAPPY
CRAPPY food. CRAPPY service. We went to this restaurant because it was my grandma's birthday, she liked the restaurant and wanted to go again. It first started when they screwed up our reservations and made them for a week earlier then I had asked. When we walked in the ambiance was nothing like I had read about for kids but pretty none the less. We sat down and 30 mins later our waiter came over to serve us. I had NEVER in my life had such rude service! He was rude to a few people and cut people off. When you tried to order he would tell you very rudely to hold on and ask someone else their order. I understand that dealing with 16 people can be hard but we were quite and very calm through out the whole meal, including my 3 yr old twins. When we FINALLY got our food there were many problems. The steak was like shoe leather, the baked potatoes were either OVER cooked or under cooked. For $16 you got 6 prawns. My mom ordered GRILLED halibut and got backed halibut that tasted like cod. When I had made the reservations they said that with a party of 13 they would add a gratuity to the checks.... no big deal until we realized the waiter (who gave us CRAPPY service) gave himself 18-22% tip. In short, we will NEVER go there again.

Wonderful Evening
My family had a most remarkable evening eating at the Alki Homestead. Great service and very good food and such a delightful setting indoors and outdoors. This wonderful old restaurant is where I will want to hold all my family special events in the future.

Looks great for the outside
I've attempted to patronage this restaurant a number times, each of which it was closed. Calling on a closed day gives way to endless ringing - no prerecorded message detailing their schedule of operation; and no alkihomestead.com as one would expect to find for such and establishment in this century.

Always a pleasure
I have been dining at the Homestead for over 20 years and still delight in the charm and the excellent food. By the way, they have a full service cocktail menu, not just beer and wine.

Strange....
My sister and I went there one time...after waiting an hour we were seated next to a plate of discarded chicken bones. It took us 20 minutes of imploring the waitress to get rid of them before they were gone. Then at the table next to us a woman was crying and her date would cover her up by putting a napkin on her head. She would take it off and a few minutes later she'd start crying again and he'd put another napkin on her head. I don't remember anything about the food.

Great Atmosphere
This place will give you reliable food with wonderful service. It's pretty busy on the weekends and worth the wait.Try it, you'll like it.
